Grand Folding Chess Set with Electroplated Pieces

The Regent is 45 cm across, with a 9 cm queen — the scale of real games, played by the rules. It is the set that stays out on the table, because it is as handsome closed as it is open.
The pieces are electroplated in silver and copper on weighted acrylic bases. Both sides read at a glance, they sit beautifully in the hand, and they catch the light the way no plastic piece ever will.
When the game ends, the board folds shut into its own case. Every piece has its fitted place inside. Close it, set it on a shelf, or carry it to where the next game is.

Buff pieces with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid polishes and solvents on plated finishes. Store each piece in its fitted compartment to protect the plating. Keep the board away from radiators and direct sunlight.

The 45 cm board folds shut into its own case, with a fitted place for every piece. As handsome closed as it is open, which is why it stays out on the table.
Under 30 cm is a travel board. Around 30 to 39 cm is the living-room size, generous enough for a comfortable game and composed enough to stay out. From 44 cm upwards you are in full-size territory. Our Choosing Your Board guide puts all eight sets side by side.
On our magnetic sets, yes. Every piece is magnetised, so you can lift the board mid-game, carry it to the sofa or pack it away and the position holds. On our metal and crystal sets the pieces are weighted rather than magnetic: they sit firmly on the square, and the board is meant to stay on the table.
