Which size should I choose?
Think about where it will live. Under 30 cm is a travel board that lives in a bag. Between 30 and 39 cm is the living-room size: comfortable to play, composed enough to stay out. From 44 cm you are in full-size territory. Our Choosing Your Board guide puts all eight sets side by side.
Is a MONOLITH set tournament size?
The Regent (45 cm board, 9 cm queen) and the 44 and 49 cm Voyager are full-size boards at the scale used in clubs. Our smaller sets are designed for the home and for travel rather than for competition regulations.
Are the boards real wood?
Yes. Our timber boards are oak, walnut, maple or mahogany, not vinyl or plastic laminate. Grain and tone vary naturally from board to board.
Are the pieces weighted?
Our metal and crystal pieces carry real weight by nature of the material. Our timber sets use magnetic pieces that sit firmly on the square and hold the position when the board is moved.
How strong are the magnets?
Strong enough to lift the board mid-game, carry it to another room and set it down with the position intact. Folded travel sets keep the pieces secured inside the case.
Will the colour match the photos?
Timber is a natural material. Grain and tone vary, and the photographs show representative sets. If the board does not feel right in your room, you have 30 days to send it back.
Does a new set have a smell?
Natural timber has its own scent. If a new set smells of its packaging, leave it open for a day away from radiators and it will settle.
Do you include spare queens?
The Sovereign ships with two spare queens for promotion. Our other sets ship with the standard 32 pieces.
How much is delivery?
Delivery across the UK is free and tracked on every order. You receive the tracking link as soon as the set is dispatched.
How long does delivery take?
Estimated dispatch and delivery dates are shown on each product page and at checkout. Ordering for a birthday or Christmas, allow a comfortable margin.
Do you deliver outside the UK?
Yes. Available destinations, timescales and pricing are shown at checkout.
What if it arrives damaged or a piece is missing?
Write to us with your order number and a photo. We replace damaged or missing pieces; we do not leave a set unplayable.
Can I return it?
You have 30 days from delivery to change your mind. Contact us with your order number, send the set back in its original condition and packaging, and we refund in full once it is received.
Can I send it as a gift?
Yes. Enter the recipient's address at checkout and leave a gift note in the order notes. Tell us it is a gift and we will treat it as one.
How do I look after it?
A dry, soft cloth and distance from radiators and direct sunlight cover most of it. Material by material, it is all in the Care Guide.
