Dust with a dry, soft cloth. Keep away from radiators and direct sunlight. Wipe spills immediately and never soak the timber. Close the case with the pieces in their places to protect the hinges.

On our magnetic sets, yes. Every piece is magnetised, so you can lift the board mid-game, carry it to the sofa or pack it away and the position holds. On our metal and crystal sets the pieces are weighted rather than magnetic: they sit firmly on the square, and the board is meant to stay on the table.
